Publishers have been asking for a PS3 price drop for awhile now and Activision seems to be getting pissed. Times Onlinereported that Activision will stop supporting Sony if they don’t increase the sales of the PS3. “I’m getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don’t make it easy for me to support the platform,” he said. “It’s expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation.”
“They have to cut the price, because if they don’t, the attach rates are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony.” He isn’t claiming this will happen anytime soon, citing 2010 and 2011 as dates when they “might want to consider if we support the console – and the PSP too.”
Sony had no comment on the article and some analysts say it’s a bluff. It seems to me that Activision is becoming more and more douchey lately. Like the EA everyone loved to hate a couple years ago. The fact does remain, however that Sony is failing this generation. We’ve already seen other publishers and developers not support Sony and they are steadily losing their former exclusive franchises like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear.
What does Sony have to do at this point to get back in the game?

Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer seemingly confirmed a new Xbox for 2010 as posted on 1up.com yesterday. Then, in a phone interview with Kotaku, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg shot that right down saying the company is “not going to be launching a new console anytime soon. I really believe he was speaking about Project Natal.”
“We want to make sure people know that we’re excited about Project Natal, but we’re barely halfway through this generation,” he said. “We’re happy with the Xbox 360, so there are no changes from that standpoint. For the time being, we’re really just showing a whole new category of gaming.” He did say that they have looked into bundling Project Natal with future SKUs but said nothing about beefier harware.
Personally, I’m just excited to see Poject Natal and what developers do with it. Although it is fun to watch the circus that is the media. Do you think there will be a new version of the 360 next fall? Do you care or do you just want to smack virtual balls and not care how you do it?
I’m happy to announce our latest raffle that gives you a chance to win a copy of Halo 3: ODST when it ships on September 22, 2009! All you have to do is buy a ticket and you are entered to win. As always, proceeds from our raffles will benefit charity (it’s kinda our thing). Tickets are available now. Keep an eye on lovefromthegame.org to see if you’ve won. Go to the “Raffles” page for complete details.
Me and some of my Xbox Live buds have regularly played Burnout Paradise for a long time. We have done everything in the online city and have been eagerly anticipating the release of Big Surf Island for quite some time.
A few days before it’s release, the announcment was made that the DLC would cost 1000 Microsoft Points (about $13). I was a little hesitant to plunk down that much for an extra car or two and some new roads to rule. But I own everything else for the game (yes, even the toy cars) so I bought it.
I had no idea the scope would be so huge! The island is as big as a section of the mainland. Maybe even bigger. There are 75 new smashes and around 45 new billboards. That might be the other way around. Gone however are the Super Jumps which have been replaced by new Mega Jumps. These are rediculous. To give you an idea of how huge they are, the easiest stunt run on the island is 250,000 points……. I got 380,000 in one jump.
There are also 15 new events and 9 new cars to unlock. You start out with a new dune buggy and can unlock the turbo version by doing the burning route for it. Finding all of the smashes, billbords and jumps will net you toy versions of the Legendary Cars. I’ve also unlocked the previously online-only Hummer.
I would definitely recommend downloading Big Surf Island. You’re getting an almost whole new game for 1000 space bucks.
What do you guys think?
Representatives at Microsoft have been quoted as saying Project Natal’s launch would be “as big a a console’s.” Well guess what? According to a story from 1up.com,that’s because it’s going to be the next Xbox.
Now don’t go getting all crazy and angry at Microsoft just yet. Project Natal is being treated as an “upgrated” Xbox. Much like in the PC world, this will be an evolution of hardware that will still play old games but make them look and perform better while new games will be able to take advantage of the new hardware completely.
The rumor is we’ll see an announcement next spring and a release next fall. I’ve also been hearing that a Blu-ray Xbox is in the works and that is supposed to be announced in August of this year. However, the person I heard this from is a complete moron.
So will you buy a “Xbox Natal?” Or do you like to paint your elephants on real paper?
Engadget has posted several hi-res photos of the PSP-Go. The photos were released after they were accidentally leaked on the Playstation Network. If you want to know my opinion you can read my earlier post. But what do you guys think?
Attention all PS3 fan boys! The Xbox 360 has just surpassed 30 million units sold with 20 million Xbox Live Accounts active. As reported by 1up.com, Microsoft saw a 136 percent increase in new members after the lauch of The New Xbox Experience last fall. And they also saw a huge usage increase with the downloading of more movies and videos than ever. The story goes on to say that gamers have spent more that $14 Billion on Xbox products this generation. That’s a lot of cheese.
So where do you guys stand? Xbox 360 or PS3? Let the flamewars begin….
Yeah I know I’m a little late to the game but I finally played Far Cry 2 last night. I played for about three hours and I’ll probably never pick it up again.
The multiplayer is a joke. It feels like a cheap, last-minute addon and plays like a shooter on the PS1. The single player experience had hope at first but after two hours of running around trying to get to my next objective, I was spent. Everything started out great. Story wasn’t really there and why do I have to sit in the backseat of a cab for 15 minutes? Why do I have malaria? Why is it that every time I get close to an objective, I blow up my own car by shooting a rocket at a reble vehicle?
Maybe I need to give it more time. Maybe I’ve developed ADD by playing COD too much. Whatever the case, I would like to know what you guys thought of Far Cry 2. Am I crazy? Is it really a great game? Or are you as pissed as I was when you played it for the first time?
